Summer hockey has started again! Here is a match report for one of our two Y1-2 teams from Week 1.
The GO Kiwi team enjoyed their first game of the season against the Riverdale Penguins. The GO Kiwi team have a nicely balanced blend of new & experienced players consisting of new caps Jaxon & Ollie (this was their first game of hockey) along with seasoned veterans Chloe, Ruby & Ben. Our team has the all round abilities that may one day see them become world champions. A very good first up game with an all-team effort in both defence & attack. Playing on the blue turf was cool fun enjoyed by all even in the wet & cold conditions. Thanks to our wonderful parents for their sideline support and our vocal mascot 'Tiny Kiwi'. Score GO Kiwi 0 - Penguins 5 but who’s counting.
GO Kiwi next game is on Tuesday 29th October on Turf 1C at 4.00 pm playing Aokautere Purple. Please meet at the Turf around 3.40pm. There is no practise this coming Monday (Labour weekend) & then a big day Tuesday for them all with Lamb and Calf Day but I’m sure they will all still be keen as mustard.
