Our school is at the heart of our community and we are very fortunate to receive substantial support from our whānau. Parents, grandparents and wider community members attend school events, provide transport and additional supervision to some EOTC activities, and help manage and coach extra-curricular activities.
The Glen Oroua Community Playgroup, for all pre-schoolers and their caregivers, meets at the Glen Oroua Hall every Friday morning during term time. We also have strong links to the Te Kawau Playcentre in Rongotea.
The school always welcomes anyone interested in organising and running any extra-curricular events or activities.
Extra Curricular Activities
At Glen Oroua School our students represent the school within our cluster and further afield at inter-school events such as swimming sports, triathlons, x-country running, athletics, summer hockey, speech competitions, Mathex, Lamb & Calf Championship day, "Top School" competition at Waitangi Day Gala.
We also hold a fund-raising "Daffodil Day" every August to raise funds for the Cancer Society, and host a school and community hangi to wrap the school year up in December. All of these events are always well supported by parents, grandparents and community members.
In addition to these activities, the school has students involved in various Te Kawau clubs within our local area. For more information about these clubs and how to get involved, please click on the links to their Facebook pages below:
